Guadalupe Valdés

After living abroad, as a way to root myself in my country, I toured flea markets in various cities rescuing paintings discarded by connoisseurs. They are mostly works by amateur painters whose subjects are recurring themes in Chilean painting: marinas and landscapes.
With those paintings, which had been forgotten in the back rooms of some tavern, I started creating collages, also adding my own painting. By cutting and putting together, the past and the present complement each other, resulting in a new reality that manages to endow the past with a renewing contemporaneity.
These works were exhibited in Galería Isabel Aninat, Santiago, Chile;Galeria Enlace, Lima, Peru; Factoría Santa Rosa, Barrio Franklin, Santiago, Chile; UCLA, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
